 মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে সাম্প্রতিক ঘটনা নিয়ে অনেকেই বিভ্রান্ত এবং চিন্তিত। ২০২৬ সালের ২৮ ফেব্রুয়ারি আমেরিকা (প্রেসিডেন্ট ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্পের নেতৃত্বে) এবং ইসরায়েল (প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেনিয়ামিন নেতানিয়াহুর নেতৃত্বে) ইরানে বড় ধরনের সামরিক হামলা চালিয়েছে। এই হামলায় ইরানের সর্বোচ্চ নেতা আয়াতুল্লাহ আলী খামেনেইসহ অনেক উচ্চপদস্থ নেতা নিহত হয়েছেন। সহজ কথায় বললে, এটা শুধু একটা আক্রমণ নয়, বরং ইরানের বর্তমান সরকারকে উল্টে দেওয়ার একটা বড় চেষ্টা।

কেন এই হামলা? মূল কারণ হলো ইরানের পারমাণবিক অস্ত্র তৈরির চেষ্টা, ক্ষেপণাস্ত্র প্রোগ্রাম এবং মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে হামাস, হিজবুল্লাহের মতো গ্রুপকে সাহায্য করে ইসরায়েল ও আমেরিকার বিরুদ্ধে আক্রমণ চালানো। ট্রাম্প এবং নেতানিয়াহু বলেছেন, ইরান একটা “সন্ত্রাসী সরকার” এবং এটাকে শেষ করতে হবে। ইরানের জনগণকে তারা সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে বিপ্লব করার আহ্বানও জানিয়েছেন।

যদি হামলা না করা হতো তাহলে কী ক্ষতি হতো? ইরান পারমাণবিক অস্ত্র তৈরি করে ফেলতে পারতো, যা ইসরায়েল ও আমেরিকার অস্তিত্বের জন্য বড় হুমকি হয়ে দাঁড়াতো। ইরানের সাহায্যপুষ্ট গ্রুপগুলো আরও বেশি আক্রমণ চালাতো। কূটনৈতিক আলোচনা ব্যর্থ হয়ে যাওয়ায় ইরান আরও শক্তিশালী হয়ে উঠতো এবং ভবিষ্যতে বড় যুদ্ধের ঝুঁকি বাড়তো।

মধ্যপ্রাচ্যের অধিকাংশ দেশ কি আমেরিকাকে সাপোর্ট করছে? আসলে পুরোপুরি সত্যি নয়। সৌদি আরব, সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরাত, কাতারের মতো দেশ ইরানকে নিজেদের জন্য হুমকি মনে করে। কিন্তু এই যুদ্ধে তারা সরাসরি আমেরিকা-ইসরায়েলকে সমর্থন করেনি। বরং তারা যুদ্ধ বন্ধের আহ্বান জানিয়েছে, কারণ যুদ্ধ হলে তাদের তেলের ব্যবসা ও অর্থনীতি নষ্ট হয়। ইরানের প্রতিশোধমূলক হামলায় এসব দেশেও ক্ষয়ক্ষতি হয়েছে। কিছু দেশ যেমন জর্ডান, বাহরাইন আমেরিকার সাথে জোটে থাকায় সাহায্য করছে, কিন্তু সবাই বলছে “যুদ্ধ আর না বাড়ানো”।

এই যুদ্ধের কারণে বিশ্ববাসীর কী লাভ আর কী ক্ষতি? লাভের দিক খুব কম এবং অনিশ্চিত। যদি ইরানের বর্তমান সরকার পড়ে যায় তাহলে মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে সন্ত্রাস কমতে পারে এবং শান্তি আসতে পারে। আমেরিকা-ইসরায়েলের নিরাপত্তা বাড়বে। কিন্তু ক্ষতি অনেক বেশি। তেলের দাম বেড়ে গেছে, যার ফলে বাংলাদেশসহ সারা বিশ্বে জিনিসপত্রের দাম বাড়বে, মূল্যস্ফীতি হবে। যুদ্ধ ছড়িয়ে পড়লে শরণার্থী সংকট, অর্থনৈতিক অস্থিরতা, স্টক মার্কেট পতন হবে। মানুষ মারা যাবে, পরিবেশ দূষিত হবে। সারকথা, ক্ষতি এখনই শুরু হয়েছে, লাভ হয়তো অনেক পরে।

রাশিয়া ও চীন কেন ইরানকে সরাসরি সাহায্য করছে না? তারা ইরানের বন্ধু, কিন্তু সরাসরি যুদ্ধে জড়াতে চায় না। রাশিয়া ইউক্রেন যুদ্ধে ব্যস্ত, চীন তাইওয়ান নিয়ে চিন্তিত। সরাসরি সাহায্য করলে আমেরিকার অর্থনৈতিক নিষেধাজ্ঞা খাবে। তারা ইরানকে কূটনৈতিকভাবে সমর্থন করে, নিন্দা করে, কিন্তু সেনা পাঠায় না। চীন ইরান থেকে তেল কেনে আবার ইসরায়েলের সাথেও ব্যবসা করে। রাশিয়ারও ইসরায়েলে অনেক লোক আছে। তাই তারা নিরপেক্ষ থেকে লাভ দেখছে।

আয়াতুল্লাহ আলী খামেনেইসহ অনেক নেতাকে কেন মারা হয়েছে? ইসরায়েল-আমেরিকা “ডেকাপিটেশন স্ট্রাইক” করেছে, অর্থাৎ নেতৃত্বকে লক্ষ্য করে হামলা। যাতে ইরানের সরকার দুর্বল হয়ে পড়ে এবং সরকার পরিবর্তন সহজ হয়। খামেনেই ৩৭ বছর ধরে ইরান শাসন করেছেন। তার খারাপ কাজ: সন্ত্রাসী গ্রুপগুলোকে সাহায্য করা, পারমাণবিক প্রোগ্রাম চালিয়ে বিশ্বকে হুমকি দেওয়া, দেশে বিক্ষোভ দমন করে হাজার হাজার মানুষ মারা, জনগণের কষ্ট বাড়ানো। ভালো কাজ: ইরানকে শক্তিশালী করা, রাশিয়া-চীনের সাথে জোট গড়ে দেশের প্রভাব বাড়ানো, কিছু ক্ষেত্রে দেশের স্বাধীনতা রক্ষা করা। সার্বিকভাবে তার সমালোচনাই বেশি।

একজন মানবিক, বিজ্ঞানপ্রিয়, শান্তিপ্রিয় মানুষ হিসেবে আমাদের করণীয় কী? যুদ্ধের ফলে বাংলাদেশে তেলের দাম বাড়ছে, জিনিসপত্র দামি হচ্ছে, মূল্যস্ফীতি হতে পারে। আমরা বিশ্বকে একা পরিবর্তন করতে পারি না, কিন্তু নিজের চারপাশে শান্তি আনতে পারি। সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় শান্তির বার্তা শেয়ার করুন, যুদ্ধের বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলুন। স্থানীয় কমিউনিটিতে আলোচনা করুন। বিজ্ঞানপ্রিয় হিসেবে সৌরশক্তি, বায়ু শক্তির মতো নবায়নযোগ্য এনার্জি প্রচার করুন যাতে তেলের উপর নির্ভরতা কমে। বই পড়ুন বা সহজ ভিডিও দেখে বিশ্ব রাজনীতি বুঝুন। নিজের দেশে সাশ্রয়ী জীবনযাপন করুন, স্থানীয় পণ্য কিনুন, সঞ্চয় করুন। শরণার্থীদের সাহায্য করুন। মানসিক শান্তির জন্য মেডিটেশন করুন। বিশ্ব রাজনীতি কঠিন লাগে কারণ এতে ক্ষমতা, স্বার্থ আর ইতিহাস জড়িত। কিন্তু সহজ সত্য হলো—শান্তি সবার লাভ। ছোট ছোট পদক্ষেপ নিয়ে শুরু করুন, নিজে শান্ত থাকুন এবং অন্যদের শান্তির পথ দেখান।

On February 28, 2026, the United States (under President Donald Trump) and Israel (under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) launched a major military attack on Iran. In this attack, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many other high-ranking leaders were killed. Simply put, this was not just a small strike—it was a big attempt to overthrow Iran's current government.

Why this attack? The main reasons are Iran's efforts to build nuclear weapons, its missile program, and its support for groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, which have attacked Israel and American interests in the region. Trump and Netanyahu have called Iran's government a "terrorist regime" that must be eliminated. They even urged the Iranian people to rise up and take back their country.

What do the US and Israel gain from this attack? First, destroying Iran's nuclear program increases their security. Second, weakening Iran's missiles and navy reduces threats in the Middle East. Third, by showing the regime as weak, they hope to spark a revolution among the Iranian people. For Israel, groups like Hezbollah become much less powerful.

What would have happened if they hadn't attacked? Iran could have completed nuclear weapons, posing an existential threat to Israel and the US. Iran's proxy groups would have launched even more attacks. Since diplomatic talks failed, Iran would have grown stronger, raising the risk of a bigger war later.

Do most Middle Eastern countries support the US? Not really. Countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar see Iran as a threat because of its proxies and interference. But in this war, they have not directly supported the US and Israel. Instead, they have called for an end to the fighting because war harms their oil trade and economies. Iran's retaliatory attacks have even caused damage in places like the UAE and Qatar. Some countries like Jordan and Bahrain help the US due to alliances, but most say, "Stop escalating the war."

What are the gains and losses for the world from this war? Gains are few and uncertain. If Iran's current regime falls, terrorism in the Middle East might decrease, and peace could come. The US and Israel's security would improve. But the losses are huge and immediate. Oil prices have already risen, causing higher prices for goods everywhere—including in Bangladesh—inflation will increase. If the war spreads, there will be refugee crises, economic instability, stock market crashes, deaths, and environmental damage. In short, the damage is happening now, while any benefits are uncertain and far away.

Why aren't Russia and China directly helping Iran? They are Iran's friends, but they don't want to jump into direct war. Russia is busy with the Ukraine conflict, and China is focused on Taiwan. Direct help would bring heavy US sanctions and economic punishment. They condemn the attacks diplomatically and offer support behind the scenes, but they don't send troops. China buys oil from Iran but also does business with Israel. Russia has many Russian-speaking people in Israel, so it stays neutral to protect its interests.

Why were Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many other leaders killed? The US and Israel carried out "decapitation strikes"—targeting the leadership directly—to weaken the regime and make regime change easier. Khamenei ruled Iran for nearly 37 years. His negative actions include supporting terrorist groups that attack the US and Israel, pushing the nuclear program to threaten the world, suppressing protests (killing thousands), and worsening suffering for ordinary Iranians due to sanctions. His positive actions (in some views) include keeping the Islamic Revolution strong, building alliances with Russia and China to increase Iran's influence, and protecting national independence in some areas. Overall, criticism of him is much stronger.

What should a humanitarian, science-loving, peace-loving person do? The war is already raising oil prices in Bangladesh, making everyday items more expensive and possibly causing inflation. We can't change the world alone, but we can create peace around us. Share messages of peace on social media and speak against war. Discuss it in your local community. As someone who loves science, promote renewable energy like solar and wind power to reduce dependence on oil. Read simple books or watch easy videos to understand world politics better. Live frugally in your country—buy local products, save money. Help refugees through charity. For mental peace, practice meditation. World politics seems complicated because it involves power, interests, and history. But the simple truth is: peace benefits everyone. Start with small steps—stay peaceful yourself and show others the way to peace.
